what is poblano

Also, for some reason many grocery stores incorrectly label poblanos as pasillas. Just bought 6 yesterday where this happened.

It is a green pepper, about the same size as a bell pepper,, but is a dark green, flatter and with a pointed end. It is mildly spicy. It is the chile of choice for making chile rellenos and for many Mexican dishes. When ripe and dried, it is the ancho chile.
