Sweepstakes Period:

The Sweepstakes starts on April 3, 2023 at 12:00pm EST, and ends on April 17, 2023 at 11:59pm EST (the "Sweepstakes Period").

Eligibility:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER. A PURCHASE WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE RESTRICTED OR PROHIBITED BY LAW. THIS PROMOTION IS IN NO WAY SPONSORED, ENDORSED OR ADMINISTERED BY, OR ASSOCIATED WITH INSTAGRAM.

The Sweepstakes is open to any United States resident aged 21 years or over. The Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or other media properties. You are providing your information to the Sponsor. The following individuals are not eligible to win the Sweepstakes: (a) employees of (i) Sponsor or its related companies, (ii) Food52, (iii) Sponsor’s vendors, and (iii) suppliers, importers, wholesalers, distributors and retailers and, in each case, any of its or their respective affiliates, printers, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies or any other company or individual involved in the creation, development, or implementation of the Sweepstakes; and (b) any members of their immediate families (spouse, parents and step-parents, siblings and step-siblings, and children and step-children) or households (people who share the same residence at least three (3) months out of the year). Entries for the Sweepstakes must be received prior to the expiration of the Sweepstakes Period. This Sweepstakes is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. By submitting an entry, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations that govern the Sweepstakes.

How To Enter

You may enter the Sweepstakes by performing the following steps:

Visit the Sweepstakes landing page.
Submit your name, email address, original recipe, recipe description, and a recipe photo at the landing page, and you’ll automatically be entered to win (see recipe guidelines below).
Confirm you are 21 years or older by marking the check box.

By submitting an entry, entrant agrees that Released Parties (as defined below) are not responsible for any unauthorized use of such entry by third parties.

Sponsor is not responsible for technical difficulties, telephone or cell phone service disruptions or other equipment or service issues which might affect a person's ability to submit an email address to qualify or the ability of the Sponsor to notify the winners. Sponsor also assumes no responsibility for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible, incomplete, incorrect or inaccessible entries or other Sweepstakes materials, all of which are void.

Proof of submission of an entry does not constitute proof of receipt of entry by Sponsor or its agents. Sponsor reserves the right to void all entries made through any third-party website or service, or through any robotic, automatic, mechanical, programmed or similar entry duplication method, and to disqualify any individual using such a website/service or entry method.

All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned.

Recipe Guidelines:

You must be at least 21 years of age or older to enter. No alcohol purchase or any purchase is required.
You may only submit recipes that are your own. If your recipe was inspired by another source, that's okay—just tell us how you changed it. We'd love for the inspiration behind your recipes to be part of the conversation. Plagiarism, however, is a definite don't. Here’s an example of an acceptably inspired recipe.
Recipes cannot have previously won a contest or other promotion.
Recipes must be in English. List all ingredients in common U.S. household measurements in order of use. Recipe cannot include ingredients that are considered illegal in any U.S state. Entries must be submitted by individuals, not by teams. The recipe and recipe name must not violate or infringe the rights of any third party, including but not limited to rights of copyright, trademark, publicity or privacy.
By submitting an entry, you agree to abide by these Official Rules and all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations that govern the Contest as well as the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for our website, which you can find here and here. This contest is void where prohibited by law. This Contest is subject to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. You must be a registered user of the Food52 website to enter.

Agreement To Official Rules:

By participating in the Sweepstakes, entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and legally binding in all matters related to the Sweepstakes. Such decisions include but are not limited to whether an entrant’s entry is in compliance with these Official Rules and is eligible for the Sweepstakes. By participating and/or accepting a prize, entrants, winners, and guests acknowledge and agree that this Sweepstakes is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and agree to release and hold harmless Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, Sponsor, Sponsor’s advertising and promotional agencies, and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, equity holders, agents, consultants, independent contractors, successors, assigns, employees, managers, officers, directors and other representatives (“Released Parties”) from any and all liability for loss, harm, damage, injury, cost, or expense whatsoever, including, without limitation, property damage, personal injury, and/or death that may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in the Sweepstakes, or possession, acceptance, and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any Sweepstakes-related activity, including, but not limited to, any claims based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy, and merchandise delivery. Sponsor shall not be responsible for any cancellations, delays, diversions, substitutions, or omissions whatsoever by any transportation companies or any other persons providing any services to winner, including any results thereof, such as changes in services or location necessitated by same. Sponsor is not responsible if any part of a Sweepstakes prize cannot be awarded due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather, or acts of terrorism. Sponsor shall not be liable for any loss or damage to personal belongings. Entrants who do not comply with these Official Rules or who attempt to interfere with this Sweepstakes in any way shall be disqualified.

Terms Of Entry:

Entering an entry in the Sweepstakes grants Sponsor and its designees (including Food52) the right to use, publish, adapt, edit and/or modify an entry in any way, in whole or in part, and to use such entry, and any ideas or concepts contained therein, in commerce and in any and all media now known or hereafter discovered, worldwide, without limitation or compensation to the entrant and without right of notice, review or approval of any such use of the entry.

Prizing:

1 Grand Prize winner will receive a private guided tour for two (2) of the Maker’s Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, a $500 airfare gift card, a $500 hotel gift card, a $500 prepaid debit card, and the winning recipe featured in A Toast to Family Ties digital cookbook on Food52.com. The approximate retail value ("ARV") of the Grand Prize is US $1,610.00. All costs and expenses not specifically described in these Official Rules are the responsibility of each winner. The Sponsor will fulfill all shipments of the Grand Prize. The Sponsor will not replace any lost, mutilated or stolen items within the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize is not transferable.

If a notified winner does not respond to request for mailing information or any other contact initiated by Sponsor within seven (7) days of selection, the Grand Prize will be forfeited and/or offered to a runner up. Winners will be contacted by Sponsor about prizing, if offered, within seven (7) days of Sweepstakes end.

Taxes:

All local, state and federal taxes incurred by accepting a Grand Prize will be the sole responsibility of the winner. Any person winning over US$600.00 in prizes from Sponsor during any one (1) year period will receive an IRS Form 1099 at the end of the calendar year, and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS.

Use Of E-Mail Addresses:

By participating in this Sweepstakes, an entrant agrees to opt-in to receive e-mail communications from the Sponsor.

Winners will be selected from entrants. The Grand Prize winner will be selected from all eligible entrants received during the Sweepstakes Period. The selection process is as follows:

ROUND 1 (DETERMINING TOP 8)

During Round 1, each eligible recipe will be judged by the Food52 Editorial Team according to the following criteria in equal measure:

Relevance: relevance to contest theme and overall appeal of the recipe;
Organization: whether the recipe is written well, including all steps, in an organized and reproducible way;
Preparation: ease of preparation, whether the recipe is practical (e.g. does not require advanced technique or tools, or expensive, hard-to-source ingredients);
Taste and presentation: overall flavor, visual appeal;
Creativity and inventiveness: originality, relevance to the theme

The top eight (8) finalists in each category (the “finalist” or “finalists”) will be chosen based on the above Food52 Judging Criteria.

Each finalist will be notified by email on or around May 1 in accordance with the information provided at the time of entry.

ROUND 2 (DETERMINING CONTEST WINNER)

After the top eight (8) are determined on May 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM ET, the Food52 community will vote on these finalists via an Instagram Story bracket-style tournament from May 23, 2023 at 12:00 PM EST to May 26, 2023 at 12:00 PM EST on the @Food52 Instagram account. The contest winner will be determined as follows:

Community vote: Food52 community votes on the finalists in a bracket-style tournament via Instagram Stories on the @Food52 Instagram account.

The selection will be made on or about May 26. Odds of winning the Grand Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period.

The potential Grand Prize winner will be notified within three (3) days of selection, via email. The potential Grand Prize winner will be required to respond within seven (7) days and return completed affidavit of eligibility, a liability release and a publicity release (where lawful), accompanied by valid government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver’s license), or prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner (in Sponsor’s sole discretion). Grand Prize will only be delivered to addresses within the continental United States.

Release:

Unless prohibited by law, as a condition of entry, entrant grant consent to Food52, Sponsor, and each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, agents, consultants, independent contractors, successors, assigns, and other representatives to use such entrant’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, biographical information and/or such entrant’s entry for publicity or advertising in any media or manner, without further payment, consideration, notice or approval and without geographic or time limitation. All documents must be returned by potential winners within one (1) day of notification that such entrant is a potential winner. No potential winner will be an official winner until such entrant’s required documentation has been returned and eligibility has been formally verified by Sponsor. If any potential winner fails to comply with these Official Rules and/or to submit the required documentation within the designated time period, he/she will be automatically disqualified and the Grand Prize may be awarded to an alternate winner.

Terms And Conditions:

If a prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable or if an entrant is found to be ineligible or declines acceptance of a prize for any reason, such potential winner forfeits all rights to the prize and an alternate winner may be selected (in Sponsor’s sole discretion).
Winner accepts sole responsibility for any miscellaneous costs relating to acceptance of prize.
Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be substituted. Prizes have no cash value if not used.
Food52 and/or Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Sweepstakes or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or those of any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner.
Sponsor shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to abbreviate, modify, suspend, cancel or terminate the Sweepstakes at any time without notice or further obligation.

Governing Law:

All disputes and questions regarding the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or concerning the rights and obligations of any participant and/or Food52 and/or the Sponsor, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than New York. The invalidity or un-enforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. If any provision of these Official Rules is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable, these Official Rules shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or unenforceable provision was not contained there.

By submitting your e-mail address to the email capture on the Sweepstakes landing page, entrant is agreeing to comply with and abide by all Official Rules. Food52 and/or Sponsor reserve the right to disqualify any entrants or winners at any point during or after Sweepstakes Period if they are not in compliance with the above Official Rules.
