Author Notes: In my blog (http://naturehealthandyoga.blogspot.com )I am suggesting that we are better off by NOT decrease the alkaline properties of vegetables by cooking them. With that, Increase the intake of mineral-rich foods.
While I do not completely disregard the cooking of the vegetables due to the fact that it helps to soften the food, which makes it easier to digest, I stay behind the fact that the raw veggies fall into the class of alkaline food. And I believe the alkaline diet leads to a healthier digestive system. Increasing the intake of alkaline foods has helped me, so I hope you see the same good results. Veggie Lettuce Wraps:
2 med tomatoes
1 /2 large sweet onion
2 tbsp crushed raw pumpkin seeds
1 cup of shopped parsley
Hand full of sprouts (your choice)
2 tbsp of lemon juice
1 tbsp of raisins
Sea salt and pepper to taste
2 heads of long romaine lettuce
Directions: Chop all vegetables by the romaine lettuce and mix it in a bowl. Prepare lettuce leaves by separating them into singles. Wrap a hipping tbsp of veggie mix into the lettuce leaves. “Secure” the lettuce leaf by a tooth pick . Top the wraps with the Red Pepper and Cilantro Dressing:
Red Pepper and Cilantro Salad Dressing:
1 Red Pepper
1 cup of chopped cilantro
2 garlic cloves
2 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tbsp of water
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp raw apple cider vinegar
Directions: blend all ingredients until smooth. Good for 2 days in the refrigerator.
Serves 6 wraps
- 2 avocados
- 1/2 large sweet onion

- 1 handfull of sprouts
- 1 large red papper
- 1 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 large tomato
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon filtered water
- 1 tablespoon raw cider apple vinegar
- Directions: Chop all vegetables by the romaine lettuce and mix it in a bowl. Prepare lettuce leaves by separating them into singles. Wrap a hipping tbsp of veggie mix into the lettuce leaves. “Secure” the lettuce leaf by a tooth pick . Top the wraps with the Red Pepper and Cilantro Dressing
