Author Notes

These lamb sliders were inspired by the Lamb Burger I had at The Breslin in NYC, the gastropub owned by British chef, April Bloomfield. The salty feta is the perfect accompaniment to the meaty lamb. It's deliciously simple, yet hearty, just like what you'd expect at any London pub. —daisyt13

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin, more or less, to taste
  • 1 pound ground lamb
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
  • olive oil, as needed
  • 6 thick slices Greek feta cheese
  • red onion, thinly slice, to taste
  • 6 mini or "slider" buns
Directions
  1. Preheat cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Combine the mayonnaise and ground cumin in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Season lamb with salt (not too much since the feta cheese might be salty) and pepper and shape into 6 mini patties.Brush each of the patties with a little olive oil and cook to your desired temperature, about 2-3 minutes each side for medium-rare depending on thickness, turning once.
  4. While the lamb is cooking on one side of the cast iron pan, place the buns on the other side of the pan to toast.
  5. To assemble the sliders, spread the cumin mayonnaise on the bottom buns. Arrange the lamb patties on top and place a slice of feta cheese on top and garnish with red onions. Serve with extra crispy french fries.

In preparation for these I couldn't pass on the mini baguettes at the store. So... I cut a mine baguette in 3 and made these with that. Soooo good.

Best lamb sliders I've ever had. Better than any restaurant. I made my own slider buns this morning because the only ones I could find in my little town were full of lots of things I don't want in my system. (Recipe from King Arthur flour) Next time I'll make the slider buns a little larger and the lamb patties a little smaller. Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

I made these for my husband's birthday, as he requested "something simple on the grill." These were dynamite. Only variations were cooking on a gas grill and adding chopped kalamata olives to the toppings. My husband claims they are the best burgers he's ever eaten and wants them again tomorrow. Can't beat those raves. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I made these tonight, they were so delicious. The cumin mayo is officially my new favorite condiment. I used the full 2 teaspoons of cumin and was literally licking it off the spoon. So happy with this recipe, I will definitely be making these again.

Made this last night...so delish and easy and completely satisfying in every way! It's gonna be very hard to go back to regular burgers. ;)

Phenomenal. The recipe is now traveling around our FB circle of friends. Ellis, my hubby, threw in some Penzey's Turkish Seasoning but just so he could say he 'made' the sliders. :)

I made this yesterday and they turned out great! I decided to make two regular sized burgers and since I couldn't find slices of feta at the market I bought the crumbled kind and put it in the middle of the burger to create feta-stuffed lamb burgers. Other than that I followed the recipe to a T and was so pleased with the results! Thanks!

I tested this, and loved it so much I had it 3 days in a row. I actually was alone, so bought a pound of lamb, and made 3 separate burgers from it. I added some arugula the 2nd night, just to get some veggies. The mayo is wonderful, and I also crumbled feta on it. The red onion really adds a good sharp taste. I also purchased Telera sandwich rolls the 2nd night. (they are a Mexican sandwich roll) which was fantastic.I can't wait to make this for my husband!

I tested this for the community pick nominations...The cumin scented mayo is a very nice condiment for the lamb burgers. Don't know why I hadn't thought of it before! We do lamb burgers a couple of times a month. I probably used a Tablespoon of fresh cumin. Our group preferred crumbling the feta...unless you are a super fan of feta, the thick slab is a little overpowering. we served it with a side of garden cukes with greek yogurt and fresh dill. Looking forward to more of your recipes. welcome to food52, good luck with the CP nomination!
