Author Notes

I would be remiss if I didn't submit a really wonderful marinade for beef or pork that one of my closest friends Ina developed. We've cooked together for years, exchanged recipes, techniques and kitchen tools and hope to do so for many years to come. This marinade is a great "go to" marinade for meat that you later broil or grill. —TheWimpyVegetarian

Ingredients
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons dry oregano
  • 3 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1-2 teaspoons olive oil
Directions
  1. Mix together the ingredients and marinade the beef or pork for at least 2 hours. For best results with beef, I recommend 4 hours or overnight but if you're in a hurry, you will still get some good flavor with 2 hours of marinading.
  2. Grill or broil the meat to desired level of doneness.

The proportions are off. I wasn't a fan. The soy sauce and seasoning ratios were way off. The soy sauce was way too much. I followed the recipe exactly.

This is what I'm looking for, I found beef on sale for 1.99/lb! Just want to marinade then grill outside on open flame :) YUM... here we go!

Wow, what a fabulous price!!! Hope you like the marinade - this is one of our favorites!

My husband didn't really like it, but I think the leftover steak could be used in an asian wrap. I only had it marinading for an hour and the flavour was definitely present. I might tweak it a bit by reducing the soy for hubby.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you! But that's the great thing about marinades - easy to tweak for what you like and don't. We love soy sauce, but it definitely is a distinctive flavor that can overwhelm if you're not as crazy about it like we are. Good luck next time around!
