Author Notes

Once a month my "gentleman" friends and I get together to discuss current events, read poetry/stories and most importantly sample a variety of whiskies. It was a hot June night for our "poetry" get together and I wasn't quite in the mood to drink straight whiskey. With some fun experimentation I came up with this little beauty.

Did some research and haven't found anything quite like it so for now I'll call it an original. Aptly named - The Poet —Adam Gazzola

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 2 ounces Sazerac Rye Whiskey
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup or organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon whole fresh ginger peeled
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • 2 sprigs mint
  • Splash soda water
Directions
  1. Muddle the ginger, lemon wedge and one sprig of mint in the simple syrup. Add ice, whiskey and soda then mix well. Add the second sprig of mint as a garnish if you are feeling fancy, most "gentlemen" skip the second sprig, then sip and prepare to amazed!
