Here is a recipe that embraces the bounties of the season, guaranteed delicious and believe it or not, nutritious! This drink includes the juice of tart apples; a potent deliverer of antioxidants, vitamin C and potassium! Tart, green apples have almost twice as much potassium as their red counterparts. —Susan E. Ingredients
  • 7 ½ cups (about 2.5 bottles) sparkling apple juice
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
  • ½ cups sour-apple juice*
Directions
  1. *To make fresh sour-apple juice, juice 4-5 tart apples (ex: Granny Smith) with the skins intact. If you don’t have a juicer, you can also use a blender. Skin the apples and “liquefy” with ½ cup water per apple.
  2. Chill all ingredients.
  3. When ready to serve, mix all ingredients in a 2-quart pitcher, stirring until all ground ginger is dissolved.
  4. Pour over ice in a regular or stemless wine glass.
  5. Per serving: 98 calories, 0g protein, 24g carbohydrate, 0g fat, 0mg cholesterol, 1g fiber, 6g sodium
