February 11, 2010

Author Notes: Whether it's for Valentine's Day, an anniversary, or just a romantic dinner at home for two, this Seductive Strawberry Zabaglione (zah-habl-YOH-nay) has everything you need for a sexy dessert: red, ripe strawberries, velvety custard, and sweet Italian wine. You can substitute champagne for the Marsala wine if you think it's more romantic, but the Marsala's flavor is fuller and sexier. You can also substitute raspberries if you prefer.Food Blogga

Directions

  1. Divide sliced strawberries evenly among two martini glasses. Set aside.
  2. In a large metal or glass bowl, vigorously whisk 2 large egg yolks, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 2 tablespoons sweet Marsala wine until combined. Place the bowl over a saucepan filled with 1-2 inches of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn’t touch the water. Continue to whisk until doubled in volume and thick, about 4-5 minutes. Spoon over berries. Garnish with fresh mint and serve.

I really love zabaglione desserts. With strawberries just starting to show up at my local stores, I'm adding this to the list of things I want to cook. It looks so delicious!
