Author Notes

My Son loves tacos, over the years the price of tortillas have gone up. So I have decided to make my own. My wife drinks the kool-aide so to speak, working at Whole Foods and all. I started using butter but i realized that shortening is better, Luckily there is an Organic Vegetable shortening. —Dominic Brannigan

What You'll Need
  • 2 3/4 cups Flour
  • 6 tablespoons Shortening
  • 1 tablespoon Kosher Salt
  • 3/4 cup Warm Water
  1. Combine Flour and salt in bowl. Rub the shortening into the flour with your hands, slowly add water, and kneed dough till you have a smooth ball. Separate into 12 equal balls. With a floured rolling pin roll the balls into 8 inch round tortillas. Using a non-stick pan on medium heat cook tortillas one at a time for approx 1 minute each side, the tortillas will bubble up when done.
