Author Notes: A play on the old fashioned Old Fashioned. Using rye beer instead of rye whiskey gives it the smooth complexity of flavors that any Old Fashioned fan has grown to appreciate. —Hi, I'm Brian.
Makes 1 cocktail
- 1 sugar cube
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 orange peel
- 12 ounces Six Point Righteous Rye, or another rye beer
- In the bottom of a pint glass douse the sugar cube with bitters. Give it a good whack to break it apart.
- Muddle the orange peel–peel side down–into the sugar. Do this for a minute or two to release the oils. The sugar should be syrupy by the time you're finished.
- Add the beer.
