Ingredients
  • 1 cane sugar cube
  • 2 dashes orange Curaçao
  • 1 grapefruit peel
  • 2 ounces rye whiskey
  • 1 large ice cube
Directions
  1. In the bottom of a double old fashioned glass douse the sugar cube with Curaçao. Give it a good whack to break it apart.
  2. Muddle the grapefruit peel–peel side down–into the sugar. Do this for a minute or two to release the oils. The sugar should be syrupy by the time you're finished.
  3. Add the whiskey and a large ice cube and stir using a cocktail stirrer: 30 spins in one direction then 30 spins in the opposite direction.
  4. Serve in glass.
