Author Notes

This recipe comes from Eric Prum and Josh Williams of Mason Shaker -- it's adapted from their new book, Shake. When we don't want to feel like it's the dead of winter outside, this is what we make. It takes us away. —Food52

I can't have grapefruit, due to cholesterol medication. So I cut the Triple Sec by half, made a simple syrup with jalapeño (you choose the amount) it will keep in the fridge for a long time. And rimmed the glass with Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt (San Francisco Co.). A racy refresh with a little bite...

I've been making this for months, without a recipe, since the one day that I didn't have enough limes but had an extra grapefruit lying around. It's the absolute best!

Absolutely delicious. I used ghost pepper salt, and the contrast between sweet and salty is wonderful

Tajin is the perfect premade seasoning salt with ground chilis for margaritas!!
