Directions

Buns (adapted from "auf die Hand" from Stevan Paul)
Mix all-purpose flour, polenta, salt and sugar in a bowl. Separately stir fresh yeast with milk and water and then pour it over the flour mixture. Add the remaining ingredients and knead the dough with your kitchen machine. With two minutes on the lowest speed, and then 10 minutes on the second speed, the dough should be smooth and flexible. Cover the bowl with cling film and place it in the fridge for the night.
On the next day, knead the dough and divide it into four equal pieces: make them ‘round’ and put them into a round baking pan. Cover this with cling film again and then let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200 °C. Before putting the buns into the oven, mix egg yolk and cream together and then spread the mixture over the buns. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden. Let them cool down on a wire rack.

Onion rings (adapted from lecremedelacrumb.com)
Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
Peel an onion and cut it into rings. Prepare three bowls or deep dishes. In the first one, mix flour, salt, pepper and chili. In the second one, mix egg with butter milk. In the third, add breadcrumbs. Once prepared, dip the onion rings into the flour and remove excess flour before dipping them afterwards in the egg mixture. Remove excess liquid and then, lastly, cover the onion rings with breadcrumbs. After finishing all of the onion rings, put them on a baking tray, which should be covered with a baking sheet, and spread some olive oil over them. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Be careful not to burn them.

Steak
Sauté your steak on a hot skillet pan and sprinkle it with salt and pepper. I normally cook the steak after this in the oven until it’s ready. How long this takes depends on the size of your steak, its quality and how you like it cooked; English, medium, well-done…
As soon as the steak is ready, let it rest for a few minutes, otherwise all the juices come out when you cut it. Then, thinly slice the steak.

Assembly
Cut the buns in half and roast each half (face down) in a pan. Then spread one half with mustard and the other half with ketchup. On one half, place some salad and slices of tomato and cucumber. Then, add steak slices and cheddar. If you like your cheese melted, you can slide the steak back into the oven (maybe on the grill function) with some cheese until it melts. When finished, lay these atop the salad and cover with the other half of the bun.
