Author Notes

Mint juleps are delightful, but drinking more than one can be a recipe for disaster. This recipe pairs mint and bourbon with sweet tea for a treat that's a bit less boozy but just as refreshing. —Marshmallows&Margaritas

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups water (divided)
  • 1 family-sized tea bag, or 2 normal tea bags
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1/4 cup loosely packed mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions
  1. Bring 2 cups water to a boil in a teapot or saucepan. Remove from heat and add teabag (s). Cover and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Discard teabag and chill tea until cool.
  2. Stir chilled tea together with 1 cup simple syrup, the bourbon and 1/4 cup water.
  3. Rinse and chop mint leaves, then stir the pieces of mint and lemon juice into the mixture. If you taste it at this point, it should be a little sweeter than you want the sorbet to be.
  4. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and process until frozen. Store sorbet in the freezer.
