Author Notes

Sure, it sometimes gets the reputation for being an afterthought, but cranberry sauce, when prepared well, can be the perfect punch of brightness and sweet for your plate. Plus, there’s always some leftover — meaning next-day sandwiches are a MUST. —CAVA

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • For Cranberry Sauce
  • 1 12 ounces bag cranberries
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons Cava harissa
  • For Thanksgiving Leftovers Sandwiches
  • roast turkey breast
  • sourdough, leftover rolls, or your preferred bread
  • radicchio or butter lettuce
  • bacon
  • Cava Traditional Hummus
Directions
  1. In a medium saucepan, bring all ingredients to a rapid simmer over medium heat. Cook until berries burst and mixture becomes syrupy, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve at room temperature.
  2. For leftovers sandwiches, prepare bacon, and slice and toast bread. Spread a few hearty spoonfuls of cranberry sauce on a slice of toasted bread. Top with a few torn pieces of turkey, a few slices of bacon, and a few leaves of radicchio. Spread other slice of bread with a few tablespoons of hummus. Stack the whole thing together and enjoy!
