Author Notes

I've always loved baking and really wanted to share some of that with my dogs. I searched all over the web for a dog biscuit that actually SMELLS like something a dog wants to eat, might help naturally keep fleas at bay, and had good, unadulterated ingredients. I've made these for my good dogs and those of my friends. They are NEVER rejected. P.S., I have read all the information about adding garlic - but I only use dried (which is supposed to be fine for dogs). If you're uncomfortable with the garlic - just omit it. —Tara Jensen

Ingredients
  • 2 cups Rolled oats
  • 2 cups Whole wheat flour
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 3/4 cup Natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup Coconut oil
  • 1 cup Nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Dried garlic posder
  • 3/4 cup Beef broth (I make it from bouillon) or warm water
Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients except the broth/water in a stand mixer. Mix until all ingredients are completely combined.
  2. Add half a cup of water and mix for 30 seconds to a minute. Add the remainder of the broth/water in small amounts until you can squeeze the dough and it stays together well enough to roll.
  3. Remove the dough and roll on a floured surface to a thickness of approximately 1/4 inch. I use a 2 inch round or bone shaped cutter. Reroll the scraps until you've used all the cookie dough.
  4. These do not spread at all so you can put them on the baking sheets very close together.
  5. Bake the cookies for 30 minutes until the cookies are thoroughly dried through. The cookies will hold for a month or more in a sealed jar.
