Author Notes

This is a recipe i recently developed after having to reduce carbs, sugar and salt in my own diet. You can substitute any cooked or canned beans for red bean to expand your options. You may also use roasted cauliflower instead of red beans. I have to thank my mom for being my taste tester and having input on these recipes, she was my first cooking teacher! —@darrel3000

  • 2 tablespoons Plain yogurt, a high heaping tablespoon
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt or sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon Homemade fresh pepper sauce, or Matouks Calypso pepper sauce (amazon), DO NOT USE fermebt3d ot aged hot sauce. Only fresh will do
  • 1/2 Juice from 1/2 a lime
  • 1 tablespoon Recotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup Extra virgin olive oil.
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped scallions
  • 1 tablespoon Grated yellow onion.
Directions
  1. Using a food processor add the chick peas and red beans and grind properly.
  2. Add all the other ingredients and grind for 3-4 minutes or until hummus is smooth and properly ground up.
  3. Taste and adjust to your liking. Can be served immediately. Serve with Pita chips or crackers or raw vegetable tray. Can also be used as a salad dressing. Kids live this.
  4. i often cut Pita bread into triangles and bake for 15 minutes at 350 F to make my own pita chips. But you may buy any of your fav pita chips or corn chips to serve with this hummus.
