Salsa Twist Paneer

Perfect as an appetizer, it derives inspiration from Mexican and Indian cuisines. This fusion recipe combines protein-packed paneer (fresh cheese made from milk) and lip-smacking salsa with an Indian twist! —Priya Karmarkar

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 100 grams paneer
  • 1 tomato, finely diced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely dices
  • cilantro, chopped for garnishing
  • to taste salt, black pepper powder
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1-2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • chaat masala, optional
Directions
  1. Cut the paneer into squares/rectangles that are about 0.5 cm thick.
  2. In a pan, heat sufficient oil and fry paneer pieces on both sides until golden brown. Remove on absorbent paper.
  3. In the same pan, fry onion until golden, followed by tomato. Sauté for a minute, add salt, sugar, black pepper powder. Mix well. Remove mixture in a bowl.
  4. For assembly, place paneer pieces in a serving dish and spread a spoonful of the prepared mixture on them. Garnish with fresh cilantro and sprinkle chaat masala.
