Perfect as an appetizer, it derives inspiration from Mexican and Indian cuisines. This fusion recipe combines protein-packed paneer (fresh cheese made from milk) and lip-smacking salsa with an Indian twist! —Priya Karmarkar
Ingredients

paneer

tomato, finely diced

1/4 cup
onion, finely dices

cilantro, chopped for garnishing

to taste
salt, black pepper powder

1 pinch
sugar

1-2 teaspoons
lemon juice

1 teaspoon
oil

chaat masala, optional
Directions

Cut the paneer into squares/rectangles that are about 0.5 cm thick.

In a pan, heat sufficient oil and fry paneer pieces on both sides until golden brown. Remove on absorbent paper.

In the same pan, fry onion until golden, followed by tomato. Sauté for a minute, add salt, sugar, black pepper powder. Mix well. Remove mixture in a bowl.

For assembly, place paneer pieces in a serving dish and spread a spoonful of the prepared mixture on them. Garnish with fresh cilantro and sprinkle chaat masala.
