Ingredients
  • 2 cups almond meal
  • 18 dates (I used Halawi dates, but you can use any kind)
  • 1.5 ounces dark chocolate (70% cacao at least)
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder + more for rolling
  • 1 tablespoon ground coffee
  • 1/2-1 teaspoons cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1-2 tablespoons water (recommend using the water you soaked the dates in)
Directions
  1. Soak the dates in warm water for 10-15 minutes.
  2. While the dates soak, combine all other ingredients except the date water in a high-speed blender or food processor.
  3. Add the dates to the dry ingredient mix and blend.
  4. The batter will be sticky, and hard to mix. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the date water to allow for blending until you reach a thick, dough-like consistency.
  5. Roll into 1/2 inch balls and roll into cacao powder to cover.
  6. Store in the freezer. When ready to eat, let them warm to room temperature.
