Chocolate Banana Bread

This double chocolate banana bread is perfect for all chocolate lovers! The gooey and fudge-like loaf is perfect for breakfast or dessert! —Chandni Patel

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large brown bananas
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup avocado oil
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ripe banana for garnishing optional
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Place parchment paper in loaf pan or use nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.
  3. Mash the ripe bananas with a fork in a large bowl.
  4. Mix in melted butter and oil until well combined.
  5. Add in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract and stir until smooth.
  6. Fold in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, until combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips, leaving a few to garnish.
  8. Pour batter into loaf pan. Slice a banana in half long ways and place on top (optional). Sprinkle the few remaining chocolate chips.
  9. Bake for about 50 minutes. Use a fork or toothpick and insert into the center of the bread, until it comes out clean.
  10. Remove the pan from the oven and cool for a few minutes.
  11. Enjoy!

I was a tad confused as the recipe list says baking powder, and the recipe itself says soda. I used powder and I'm not sure that was right. The flavor wasn't quite there. If I made this again, I would use soda instead and maybe use more bananas so you could taste them better. Walnuts were a nice addition though!
