Ingredients
-
2 1/2 cups
old-fashioned oats
-
3/4 cup
Bow Hill Organic Heirloom Blueberry Powder
-
1/2 cup
flax seeds, ground
-
2 tablespoons
bacon fat, olive oil or flax seed oil
-
1/2 cup
applesauce or 2 eggs
-
1/2 cup
chicken or vegetable stock
Directions
-
Heat oven to 325°F.
-
Grind the flax seed in a coffee grinder (or buy pre-ground).
-
Set aside ½ cup of oat flour. Combine 1 ½ cups oat flour and remaining ½ cup of whole oats, blueberry powder, and flax meal.
-
Stir in the bacon fat, eggs, and chicken stock until a sturdy dough forms.
-
Generously sprinkle half the leftover oat flour on a counter top and use another fourth of it for the rolling pin (reapplying as needed). Roll the dough ½” thick and cut into your desired shapes.
-
Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a Silpat (or nothing at all). After placing on the baking sheet, brush each shape with chicken stock or water.
-
Bake 1 hour. Turn oven off and leave the biscuits in the oven with the door closed for another hour to completely dry out.
-
Store in an airtight container until Fido has finished them off!
