My changes to the original:

Strait side skillet changed to a 3 quart pot:
Why? I didn't have a large enough skillet

Linguine changed to Cavatappi
Why? I need a short pasta to fit in the pot. This one had the same cook time as Linguinie

Changed basil to rosemary
Because I think rosemary goes well with pork.

Added ground pork .75 lbs
I hoped that the starch from the pasta would blend with the pork fat and leave a rich coating on the pasta.

Results: Bland Soup
This did not work. :(

I think using a pot instead of a skillet was a problem. Without a large surface area the tomatoes and onions were not in contact with the pan. They were bland, boiled and barely cooked.

Adding the pork was good. I'm glad I did because that was the only thing that gave the pasta water some flavor

What You'll Need
  • .75 pounds Ground Pork
  • 1 pinch Rosemary
  • Everything else was the same as the oringal
  1. In a 3 quart pot, Brown ground pork with red pepper and rosemary
  2. Add to the same pot pasta, tomatoes, onion, garlic, salt
  3. Add water. Make sure all pasta is submerged in water
  4. Bring to a boil. Stir occasionally to make sure pasta isn't sticking to the bottom.
  5. Boil until pasta is cooked approx. 9 min
