This is a common offering at Q joints in our region. It is a versatile and flavorful offering that is very popular at our table. Any time we have leftover BBQ'ed meat, we think of his dish. The recipe itself is built around the size of your serving container. I can't think of a recipe we use that is more dependent on ingredient quality, so use good Q, quality slaw, and your favorite bean recipe. If you are going to use canned pork & beans, food service slaw, and pulled pork out of a plastic container, be prepared to be removed from my Christmas card list. The times do not include bean or slaw prep and assumes you have leftover Q. —MTDavids

Ingredients

Leftover pulled pork, chopped brisket, or grilled chicken.

BBQ'd beans

cole slaw
-
your favorite BBQ Sauce

slices cooked bacon (optional)

chopped green onion (optional)

pickled jalepeno, seeded and chopped (optional)
Directions

The size of the serving containers determines the amount of ingredients. For a main dish I use beer mugs. For an app, small glasses or bowls.

Warm leftover chopped brisket, pulled pork, or grilled chicken. In another pan, warm beans.

Fill the serving vessel one third full of warmed beans. The next layer should be another third filled with your meat. Top with BBQ sauce to taste.

Cover with coleslaw. I like to place another dab of BBQ sauce on top of the slaw because it looks pretty and makes my wife happy. Serve while meat and beans are still warm.

Any optional ingredients can be added at any layer you choose. Make it your own.

I like to have slices of bread on the side. Garlic bread works well for us.
