Trim crust from bread slices, arrange 1/2 of the bread over bottom of shallow 2 qt. Baking dish. Combine eggs, milk and seasonings, beat slightly, cover bread slices with 1/2 milk mixture. Top each slice of bread with a piece of cheese. Sprinkle bacon bits over all. Cover with remaining bread slices. Pour remaining milk mixture over bread . Bake in oven at (325 • F) about 1 hour or until set.
Dry bacon slices until lightly browned, about 3/4 done. Cut in half pieces . Five minutes before baking time top each bread slice with a cheese slice and 2 bacon strips. Return to oven to melt cheese and heat bacon . Cool 10 minutes before serving.
