Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is an ancient recipe since the Mughal era in India. This recipe was made to the king's by the palace chef. The recipe is all about cooking the raw meat along with 1/2 cooked rice. When done this way, the meat slowly cooks and its juices cooks the rice. This way the rice gets all its flavor from the meat. And traditionally its cooked on low flame which is sealed tightly but I believe the slow cooker is the perfect device for this dish. —Veena Rao
