Instant Pot Mixed Lentils (Gujarati Chevti/Trevti Dal)

Chevti Dal (also known as Trevti Dal) is a simple, vegetarian recipe that incorporates three different types of lentils (moong dal, urad dal, and chana dal) with authentic Indian spices.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 4-6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2-5 green chilis, sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup yellow mung (moong) dal
  • 1/4 cup urad dal
  • 1/4 cup chana dal
  • 5 cup water

Directions

  • Step 1

    Set Instant Pot to 'Saute' mode.

  • Step 2

    Add avocado oil, garlic, ginger, and green chilis.

  • Step 3

    Wash all three dals (lentils) and add to Instant Pot.

  • Step 4

    Add water, salt and turmeric and mix well.

  • Step 5

    Close the lid on the IP. Press 'Cancel' and then 'Bean/Chili' mode and set timer to 15 minutes.

  • Step 6

    Move valve to 'Sealing position'.
