Old Fashioned Holiday Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • Stand mixer (optional)
  • Ingredients
  • 2 sticks Butter (unsalted and softened)
  • 1 cup Coconut oil (melted and cooled)
  • 1.5 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 4.5 cups All Purpose Flour
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl add the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt and whisk to combine, set aside.
  3. In the bowl of a stand mixer add butter, oil and sugars and mix to combine. Add in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated. Add in the extracts and then slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet in 3 additions.
  4. Bake 8-10 mins (I always under bake to 8) and remove to wire racks to cool. Frost if desired with a simple mixture of powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract and food coloring! Decorate with sprinkles if desired and enjoy!

Instruction includes eggs, yet eggs are not in the ingredient list. I guessed. The coconut oil just undermines the classic taste. No instruction or tips on rolling out cookies. Overall, pretty lame recipe, especially for a classic holiday stand by. You can certainly do better.
