This quick and easy tofu is best served with rice and vegetables. —Ria Elciario
Ingredients
-
200 grams
extra firm tofu (about 1/2 a packet)
-
2-3
cloves of garlic, minced
-
1 tablespoon
red pepper flakes (or 2 red chillies, chopped)
-
2 tablespoons
sesame oil
-
5-7 tablespoons
soy sauce
-
1 1/2 tablespoons
brown sugar
-
1 teaspoon
garlic powder
-
1
scallion, chopped (for garnish)
-
2 teaspoons
sesame seeds (for garnish)
-
3 tablespoons
sesame oil (for cooking)
Directions
-
Press and slice the tofu into your desired size, then set aside.
-
In a mixing bowl, add garlic, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder. Whisk together until fully incorporated, then add your tofu and marinate for 15 minutes.
Note: Make sure the tofu is fully coated in the marinade. The longer you keep it in the marinade, the more flavorful it'll be.
-
In a frying pan, heat the sesame oil over medium-high.
-
Add the tofu and fry each side for 7 to 8 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Remove from heat, then serve and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.
