A simple go-to dish for lazy days. This dish is best served with rice and vegetables (steamed broccoli, pan-seared bok choy, sautéed long beans, or whatever you fancy). You should be done cooking within half an hour. —Ria Elciario
extra firm tofu (about 1/2 a packet)
cloves of garlic, minced
red pepper flakes (or 2 red chillies, chopped)
1 1/2 tablespoons
scallion (for garnish)
sesame seeds (for garnish)
sesame oil (for cooking)
In This Recipe
Press and slice tofu, then set aside.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add in garlic, red pepper flakes, sesame oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, and garlic powder. Mix it all together until fully incorporated, then add in your tofu.
Make sure your tofu is fully coated in the marinade. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes. The longer you keep it in the marinade, the more flavourful your tofu will be. Feel free to prepare this half an hour ahead if you'd like.
Prepare garnish, then set aside.
Heat sesame oil over medium-high, preferably using a non-stick pan or skillet.
Add in tofu and cook all sides until golden brown. Add remaining marinade (if you have any left) to glaze once all sides are cooked.
Serve and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.
