Ingredients
- Hot Honey Prosciutto Pizza Bites
-
4
slices bread of your choice quartered (the sturdier the bread the better - my favorite to use is Ezekiel bread)
-
8
slices of prosciutto (about 4 oz)
-
1 cup
low-moisture mozzarella, sliced into bite-sized pieces
-
1/4 cup
hot honey
-
1/4 cup
fresh arugula
-
freshly cracked black pepper
- Hot Honey
-
1/4 cup
honey
-
1/2 teaspoon
apple cider vinegar
-
1 teaspoon
red chili flakes
-
1
small dried chili, cut in half (chile de árbol or bird's eye chili)
-
Optional for extra heat: 1-2 pinches of cayenne powder)
Directions
-
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
-
Lay the quartered bread slices onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and toast In the oven for 5 minutes.
-
While the bread is toasting, pour the honey, ACV, chili flakes, dried chili and cayenne powder to a small pot over medium-low heat. Warm through for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Pour into a separate container to cool and set aside.
-
Once the bread is lightly toasted, add an individual slice of mozzarella to each toast, then layer on half a slice of prosciutto on each and pop back into the oven for 4 minutes.
-
Lower the baking sheet to the lowest oven rack and broil on high for 2 and a half minutes.
-
Next, spoon over the hot honey on each, crack a little pepper and add a leaf or two of arugula on each pizza bite.
-
Plate and serve with additional hot honey. Best eaten immediately.
