Author Notes
In the late 70’s 1 of my college room mates always made this for parties because her mother always made it. Women of a certain age made it & it was very popular. I changed her proportions. Every time I serve this I’m asked what’s in it & it couldn’t be simpler. —MMH
Ingredients
-
1 pound
swiss cheese
-
Hellman’s Real Mayo
-
3-4
green onions
Directions
-
Shred cheese on the coarsest slots of a box grater.
-
Using kitchen shears, cut the green onions i small slices using all of the white & green parts. Distribute them even evenly throughout the cheese.
-
Add just enough mayo to make the cheese mixture spreadable.
-
This can be prepared a day in advance so the flavors develop. Add mayo if the mixture becomes too thick. Serve with your favorite crackers or veggies. Triscuits are good and especially retro. Or for a trendier approach, serve lavosh or flat bread.
