Test Kitchen Notes

Bubbly and oh so refreshing, this tequila spritzer from Bay Area bartender Christian Suzuki-Orellana was *made* for summer sipping. Citrus really shines in this drink, complementing the spicy, toasty tequila. Fever-Tree’s Sparkling Lime & Yuzu packs most of the citrusy punch, with its tangy-sweet lime and floral yuzu flavors; it also brings the spritzer’s signature effervescence, along with some sparkling wine. For extra brightness, the tequila is first muddled with a makrut lime leaf for a quick infusion (save an extra for the garnish, too). A dash of strawberry liqueur rounds out the drink with a bit of sweetness, and is a great ingredient to keep on hand for when perfectly ripe strawberries aren’t available or quite in season yet.

This recipe is shared in partnership with Fever-Tree.

What You'll Need
  • 1 1/2 ounces Fever-Tree Sparkling Lime & Yuzu
  • 1 1/4 ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce sparkling wine
  • 1/4 ounce strawberry liqueur
  • 1 makrut lime leaf, plus more for garnish
  1. Tear the makrut lime leaf into a couple pieces to release its aromatics, then add it to a mixing glass or shaking tin, along with the tequila. Using a muddler, muddle gently for a quick infusion.
  2. Strain the infused tequila into a wine glass, along with the strawberry liqueur. Stir to combine.
  3. Add the Fever-Tree Sparkling Lime & Yuzu and sparkling wine to the glass and give it a gentle stir. Garnish with a makrut lime leaf and serve.
