Test Kitchen Notes

A Whiskey and Cola might be one of the simpler cocktail orders out there, but there are plenty of variations you can make—from switching up the type of whiskey to playing around with the proportions. But this take on the classic combo from caribBEING founder Shelley Worrell is one of our new favorites. All the essentials are here, with a focus on quality: Fever-Tree’s Distillers Cola (which is made with Caribbean kola nuts, Tahitian limes, and distilled botanicals and spices), plus your favorite whiskey. A few dashes of orange bitters, a squeeze of lime, and some mint complement the aromas of the cola and the whiskey, and bring an extra bit of freshness.

This recipe is shared in partnership with Fever-Tree.

Ingredients
  • 2 ounces whiskey
  • 4 to 6 ounces Fever-Tree Distillers Cola
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 2 to 3 dashes Angostura orange bitters
  • 1 sprig fresh mint, for garnish
  • Orange twist, for garnish (optional)
Directions
  1. Pour the whiskey in a chilled highball glass filled with ice. Top with the cola and run the lime wedge around the rim of the glass before squeezing the juice into the cocktail.
  2. Add a few dashes of the bitters and garnish with a fresh mint sprig (plus an orange twist, if you’d like). Serve and enjoy.
