Author Notes
This is a refreshing, lip-smacking sipper that makes a batch of margaritas to share with friends or stock your fridge for a few nights. It makes me wish I had a pool or a hammock.
I like to keep the liquor separate from the juice mix because it's always nice to have something non-alcoholic but still festive beverage-wise to offer guests. The watermelon-strawberry mix is delightful mixed with a bit of flavored seltzer or topped off with sparkling water. —cookyourfeelings
Ingredients
-
1 pound
watermelon flesh, cubed
-
8 ounces
strawberries, hulled
-
1/4 cup
lime juice
-
1 teaspoon
agave nectar
-
3/4 cup
tequila blanco
-
1/4 cup
Grand Marnier
-
2 tablespoons
fine grain sea salt
-
1/2 teaspoon
chipotle powder
-
1/4 teaspoon
cayenne pepper
-
lime wedges for serving
Directions
-
Combine watermelon and strawberries in a blender, and blend until well pureed. Strain into a Mason jar or quart container. Add lime juice and agave. Refrigerate.
-
Combine tequila and Grand Marnier in a pint container and refrigerate until ready to mix.
-
Combine salt, chipotle powder, and ground cayenne pepper in a container with a lid and shake to combine.
-
To Serve: cut a slit in the center of a lime wedge. Run the lime wedge around the rim of the glass. Shake some salt mix onto a plate. Press the rim of the glass into the salt mix and turn. Save the excess salt mix for next time. Add as many ice cubes as desired to your glass. Squeeze the remaining juice from the lime wedge into the glass.
-
Grab the juice and liquor blends from the fridge. Give the juice blend a quick shake to combine.
-
In a cocktail shaker or Mason jar, combine 6 ounces of juice mix and 2 ounces of liquor mix. Cover with a lid and shake, shake shake. Pour over ice. Depending on the size of your glass there will be extra margarita to top off your drink.
