Author Notes
This is a seasonal food, cooked mostly in summer, but can equally be cooked in winter. Very delicious!!
A)INGREDIENTS
-Five onions
-1 slice toasted, grained bread
-Three-four tablespoon olive oil
-Some pepper
-Some salt
-Mint
-One egg
-Three tablespoon grained white cheese
-One tomato smashed and blended in mixer, so as to make juice out of it
B)PREPARATION
-We peel the onions well and then put them into mixer to make a 'dough' out of them
-We smash in mixer also two slices approx. toast (-ed) bread
-We add the tomato juice or blended
-We break a raw egg and put it into mix
-We add salt, some pepper, a pinch of meat
-Finally cheese, up to three-five tablespoon grained white cheese
->>Now we make a mix out of all this stuff and tide it with hands so that it's a mass, then easily we create small croquets with hand, until all mix is finished
-We then pour each piece into flour for daily use, we've put on two paper towels, in order to fry
-In the meantime, we've prepared stove with olive oil, few teaspoonful, and then as soon as olive oil is burning hot, we throw carefully each piece, actually each croquet to fry all of them. We turn croquets upside down in the pan, till all of them are well done.
-Then we put each fried croquet on the flat plate with two paper towels, so that excess oilive oil is absorbed.
-We repeat this process till all croquets (onionballs) are well done,
We serve with cold beer, or Coca Cola in summer. Nb We can configure quantities accordingly, this isfor how many persons we want this food to be —Aikaterini Katapodi
