Chocolate Chess Pie

This pie is easy to make and rounds out a holiday dessert table nicely. It's rich and fudgy and while it's great on it's own, it is also perfectly paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a spoonful of whipped cream! —ellen

Ingredients
  • 1 prepared pie crust
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 2.5 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
  1. preheat oven to 325 and place pie crust in pie plate.
  2. in mixing bowl, mix sugar, cocoa powder and salt. add eggs one a time, beating briefly after each one. add evaporated milk and vanilla, mixing well. add butter and mix until well blended.
  3. pour the mixture into pie crust and bake for 55-60 minutes. The crust should be lightly browned and the middle of the pie should have a "brownie like" consistency.
  4. Let cool then cut and enjoy!!
