  • 3 cloves of Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame Oil
  • 1 teaspoon MSG
  • 1 tablespoon Red Chili Flakes
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • Tofu Sticks
  • 1 package of Firm or Extra Firm Tofu, drained
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground Black Pepper
  • 1/4 cup dried Cilantro
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Oil
  • 1/4 cup Sesame Seeds
  1. Korean BBQ Sauce
  2. Combine all ingredients for the Korean BBQ sauce in a blender of food processor, and pulse until smooth. Alternatively, finely mince all solid ingredients and combine by hand.
  3. Set aside.
  1. Tofu Sticks
  2. Combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and Cilantro in a small bowl. Thoroughly mix eggs in separate bowl.
  3. Cut block of tofu into 12 sticks, and pat each stick completely dry with paper towels.
  4. Toss tofu sticks in flour mixture, then eggs, then flour mixture a second time. Pan-fry sticks over high heat in a wide pot, flipping until all sides are brown and crispy.
  5. Let fried tofu sticks drain on a wire rack, and drain remaining oil from the pot.
  6. Stir the Korean BBQ Sauce mixture to ensure nothing has settled to the bottom, and add it to the pan that has been drained of oil. Bring to a simmer, then add the fried tofu sticks. Stir gently until sauce has thickened to your liking.
  7. Serve tofu sticks over rice, sprinkling heavily with sesame seeds.
