What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • Yellow cake
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • For the filling and topping
  • 1 1/2 cup dulce de leche
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Once the cake has cooled, use a knife to carefully slice it in half horizontally. Spread a layer of dulce de leche on the bottom half of the cake, then place the other half on top.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together dulce de leche and ground cinnamon. This will be your topping.
  6. Spread the dulce de leche and cinnamon mixture over the top of the assembled cake.
  7. Slice and serve your delicious Dulce de Leche-filled Yellow Cake with Dulce de Leche and Cinnamon Topping.
