How to up your pie game.
Baking an excellent pie isn't complicated, but having the right tools helps immensely. This set from the experts at King Arthur Flour will have you whipping up flaky crusts in no time, including:
Pie Chain: Dried beans or rice? Pie weights? Nah. Blind-bake your piecrust the easy way with this stainless steel beaded chain -- it coils into the bottom of your crust and holds it flat so it doesn't puff up with air while baking. It's extra-long (10 feet), so it'll fit any shape of pie dish.
Dough Whisk: We use this tool for everything from mixing muffin batter to tossing together a fruit pie filling. The 11" whisk is designed to let batter flow through -- perfect for delicate batters like muffins and pancakes that you don't want to beat, for fear of toughening your baked goods.
Fiori di Sicilia (4 ounces): This extract combines citrus and vanilla for a pleasingly floral aroma. Use about ½ teaspoon in a standard recipe for cookies, pound cake, pie, or meringues. It's classically used in Italian recipes to scent panettone.
