This nougat family recipe is at least six generations old -- the Daelia's family brought it from Italy (where it's called torrone) to America in 1910. They still use the traditional method, but with an American twist using hazelnuts from Oregon and almonds from California. The nougat is shaped in wood molds, then cut by hand.
