The handle is made of Gaiac wood from Guaiacum Officinale, a rare tree that ranges from the West Indies to the northern coast of South America and the Galapagos Islands. Gaiac wood is so dense that it sinks in water, yet it is also self-lubricating and intensely fragrant.
