Porcelain Butter Keeper

Build me up, butter cup.
One of our best-sellers and best-loved, the French Ceramic Butter Keeper, may just have gotten—dare we say it—even better, thanks to a slightly larger design in a fresh, bright white exclusive to Food52. Hand-thrown on a pottery wheel in California in the same style as its older sister, it keeps your butter soft and spreadable. Just fill the base of the keeper with water and fill the other half with just over a full stick of butter, creating an airtight seal when closed.
This butter keeper is handmade-to-order, which accounts for a longer turnaround time to shipping.

For Jonathan Sawyer, it all starts with a lump of clay. He works away at his potter's wheel in his San Diego studio to create pieces that are functional while retaining unique, handmade charm. Even better, every piece he crafts utilizes entirely lead-free glazes, meaning that they're good for use in the microwave, dishwasher, and oven.View Full Profile
