Vintage Copper French Large Charlotte Mold, Late 19th Century
Vintage Copper French Large Charlotte Mold, Late 19th Century
Out of the pan.
A charlotte is a trifle-style dessert typically made by lining a mold with sponge cake, bread, ladyfingers, and the like, and filling it with a custard, mousse, or fruit purée. The whole thing is then unmolded onto a platter before serving, which is why these moulds typically feature two heart-shaped handles that make flipping out the cake a whole lot easier. This traditional vintage copper mold c. 1880 features a brass finial and the number “16” stamped to both the pan and lid.
