The intricate, small stitches that adorn this embroidered linen pillow cover are inspired by sashiko, a Japanese decorative stitching technique that uses a tiny, basic running stitch to create subtly beautiful geometric patterns. (The Japanese word sashiko literally means “little stabs.”) Stick in a pillow insert and secure it with the invisible zipper—and when it’s time for a wash, just pop it in the washing machine!
