Organic, imperfect, easygoing.

We gave 20 of our favorite ceramicists a mission: to create a mug that best represents their aesthetic. And boy, did they deliver! The result is something we’re very excited to present: A very-special, very-unique collection of limited-edition mugs—all exclusive to Food52 (like the design on this very page!).

Kim Gilmore, owner of FisheyeBrooklyn, told us it’s rather surprising how many steps it takes to make a mug—but the result is always well worth the hustle. This stoneware stunner is a just-right size for your morning brew (or steep) and features a lovely coral-to-deep red ombré tonality. The glaze varies slightly on each piece, making it a wonderful personalized gift for a friend (or, yourself of course!).

Meet the Maker

FISHEYECeramics

Catskill, NY
Kim Gilmour grew up in rural New Hampshire, and the inspiration for her work comes from the beauty and imperfection of the natural world. After moving to Brooklyn and starting to work with pottery, she decided to open her own shop. Now based in Hudson Valley, New York, everything she creates is organic and abstract, but also completely functional. Each piece is either hand-built, thrown on an electric wheel, or a combination of both.
