[OLD] Limited Edition Handmade Mug, by Sawyer Ceramics
Rustic, elegant, functional.
We gave 20 of our favorite ceramicists a mission: to create a mug that best represents their aesthetic. And boy, did they deliver! The result is something we’re very excited to present: A very-special, very-unique collection of limited-edition mugs—all exclusive to Food52 (like the design on this very page!).
One little-known fact about mug-making is that it often takes longer to fashion the handle than to make the body of the cup itself. We say the efforts are well worth it for this knockout piece—just look at the swoop on the mug’s side and how perfectly it’s placed toward the base for easy sipping. The speckled glaze looks dreamily imperfect and that little bit of raw stoneware peeking out at the base gives it a rustic happy-in-a-cabin feel.
