The Rope Co.

Warren, ME
Founded by a 5th generation lobsterman family, the Rope Co. makes outdoor mats, rugs, bins, and tablecloths that are hand-knotted in Maine from nautical rope. Owners Logan & Hannah Rackliff grew up steeped in coastal traditions (Logan learned how to navigate a lobster boat before his bicycle training wheels came off), and rope-making is part of that heritage. The rope you find in their household products is made from the same sturdy stuff that lobstermen use up and down the coast, from Canada to Florida.

Too thick for the doors to pass.
I purchased this rug to go inside the door to my laundry room. The doors do not pass over it. I wasted my money. If you are looking at this rug, be sure to note the depth before purchasing. A note inside says that they don’t accept returns unless there are defects. Several items I purchased lately are not exactly what I thought. Shop around.

Looks good, feels terrible
It's really cute, but I can't stand on it. My feet hurt right away. Might be better for people with tough feet.

LOVE IT but here are some insider tips...
Absolutely love the look of this rug. Aesthetically, and in an exceptionally clean home, it's stunning. It's the perfect size for the space and fits our needs really well. We have pets and hardwood floors. Without a rug mat, it does slip around easily. Lighter pet hair is very obvious. Because it is so chunky, crumbs and every day life easily get stuck within the weave so it doesn't take much for it to look dirty. It's very easy to shake outdoors though and hosing it down is a breeze. It is frustrating to vacuum. It also feels great on my feet (find those pressure points!) for about 15-20 minutes and standing much longer than that makes my soles sore.
