added over 1 year agoThat's a tough one! This is a great prune and apple stuffing -- you could easily substitute dates and figs for the prunes. http://www.food52.com/recipes...
the ABSOLUTE best fig stuffing i've ever had is the one that ina garten uses in her turkey roulade. you soak dried figs and dried cranberries in brandy....and then toss them in with celery, onions, both sweet and spicy italian sausage, pine nuts and bread crumbs. it is impossible to stop eating it.
i think you could certainly replace the cranberries with dates and have a very successful dressing (since you won't be stuffing it inside something)...i would only say from experience i alter the recipe to use real bread (dried french bread or challah)...since it holds up much better than the store bought bread crumbs do.
