A question about a recipe: Butternut Squash Posole with Green Tomato Pico de Gallo

I have a question about the ingredient "green tomatoes, small dice, about 1 cup" on the recipe "Butternut Squash Posole with Green Tomato Pico de Gallo" from thirschfeld.

This is really basic: are green tomatoes available in the store? If not, is there a good substitution? Thanks!

My grocery sometimes carries them but you could use tomitllos(they can be really sour) and even just regular tomatoes.
