What is the shelf life of rendered lard in my refrigerator?

Sounds like you would be able to contact the farmer -- although consensus is strong.

From personal experience, lard will keep for years without any noticeable effects. Make sure you store it in a container with a tight-fitting lid.

this is farm rendered lard...not the Manteca/lard from the supermarket

You may notice that the boxes of manteca at the supermarket aren't even refrigerated. But yes, rendered lard does hold in the fridge for quite awhile, say indefinitely. I think Crisco lasts eternally.

Very long, I would imagine - as in at least a year - especially refrigerated. How long have you had it/are you hoping to keep it for?

Thanks Miranda...I was going to use this week. This lard is from a local farmer not the manteca that I usually find in the supermarket.
