I've not made it, but based on the ingredients I'm also in the "no" category. A maple buttercream would have a similar flavor and would work between layers. http://www.marthastewart.com/313456/maple-buttercream
Hmm. I would think not. Cake layers may slide since this frosting seems to be more of the flowing kind. But I have never made it before so I am just speculating.
